Right to life

One obvious fundamental human right is the right to live. Nobody should be allowed to take anyone's life. I don't think I need to go into too much detail for this straightforward right.

Keep in mind that the right to live does not mean that society must do everything possible to protect your life. There are limited resources in this world, and those include such things at time and effort. Maximizing protection for you personally would take away from freedom and other rights from others. Additionally, rights can sometimes produce some conflicts. Your own rights and freedoms can be put on the line if we go too far for this one.
