Much like the metal swings of the school aged area, the Tot Lot’s Metal Tot Swings are disconnected from the rest of the Playground by the Sound. The types of swings are different from the school aged area and come in two types.
One allows parent to put their kids in with holes for their legs. This can help keep young kids from falling out.
The other type has a back and is tilted to the back. This won’t lock the children into place as much as the previous swings, but it can still protect young children by tilting them into the side that blocks their fall. It can also ensure that parents pushing from the front can see their children and help them if it looks like they are going to fall. Of course, I would only think that a fidgety child towards the limits of the swing’s capacity would show that sort of risk.
Other safety concerns could be pinching if the child grabs the chain, but I’m pretty sure parents are already familiar with that concept.
