It's that time of year again to discuss changes being made to my online presence. This year is a little different. Instead of reevaluating my online presence for some changes that will start with the new year, I'm focusing on changes that are already in progress.

Yearly Blog Update 2025

It's that time again. We are in a new year, and I should use this as an opportunity to explain changes to my online presence. Admittedly, I have not done an evaluation like I normally do, but there's a reason for that. I don't need to do a proper evaluation to know about changes that will appear to my online presence.

Yearly Blog Update 2024

It's time for another one of my yearly updates, but I don't have much to say. The posts for My Idea Outlet are now focused on updating existing projects. I have decided to limit this to one update (if any) per project each calendar year. Additionally, I plan on replacing one of my series approaching completion with a project away from Blogger. This will result in a slight reduction in Blogger posts.

Like every year, I will provide a quick update of changes to my online presence that I intend to make for the new year. I have been thinking about this. There is a part of me that would like to completely reinvent my online presence. The drawback to this approach is that I wouldn't finish some of the work I currently have in progress.

It's that time of year again. I need to look at my online presence and see if there is anything that I want to do differently. I have a few ideas, and I can assure you that there will be changes in 2019.

Yearly Blog Update 2018

Throughout 2017, I have been feeling overwhelmed. I have spent years adding more and more personal projects to my life. Although I have cut back on a few projects, those cutbacks have always been to make room for something bigger. It has been clear to me for a long time that something would eventually have to give.

In the middle of the year, I hit that point. I couldn't keep up with all of my projects, so I forced myself to reduce my workload. Blog posts moved from an every-other-day approach to one post for about every three days.

That change could be viewed as an emergency measure for me. Now that I am doing my yearly reevaluation, I can better sort out how I intend to handle my online presence for the new year. You can expect a number of noteworthy changes. I will break them down as I evaluate how I am currently handling different segments of my online presence.

Mid-year Changes

I have decided to make a change to my online presence without waiting for next year. I have been struggling to keep up with everything in my life, so I have decided to scale back a little.

Last year, I made a number of changes due to a shift in my priorities. Some of these changes were significant enough that this year can be viewed as a cleanup year. Like usual, I will be explaining some of the changes that will be coming up.

Between work on other projects, I spent a surprising amount of time thinking about my priorities. I have decided to make some fairly significant changes to my online presence this year. This is primarily the addition of a new project, but other changes need to be made to accommodate the extra time and effort.

It's time for my yearly blogging update. Before I get started, I should point out that I have a lot going on right now. My evaluation is not going to be very thorough.

Yearly Blog Update 2014

As you could tell from my post on January 1, 2013, I am now providing yearly evaluations of my online presence. I will look at how things are going and changes that I feel should be made.

My Online Presence

Ever since I started my blog, I have had a noteworthy change every six months. I think that I have expanded my online presence enough that I don’t need to make such a change this time. Instead, I’m going to take a look at how my online presence is currently going.

Blogging Presence

I have been maintaining three blogs:

• Random Rants and Ramblings
• The War Between Schooling and Education
• Mental Exercises

I have a few links between these blogs, so finding one can help people find the others. I also have been updating regularly. I only have gone more than a day without posting while on vacation, and even then I can make up for it with scheduled posts. This means that I can create posts more frequently and use additional posts to keep that rate up while on vacation. I also maintain nature logs for these vacations that I don’t count in my every-other-day schedule. Ultimately, I end up with more posts while on vacation that normal.

These blogs do not see much traffic. There are a number of reasons for this. For starters, I do not have a social life. As a result, my online presence is pretty much unknown. I also am uncomfortable promoting myself through most means. Since I do not conform to socially acceptable standards, I feel that others might be insulted if I so much as hint that they might want to connect with my blogging. The only ways to learn about my blogs right now is either through a search engine, from my Flickr account, and maybe my Google+ account.

Traffic is usually factored into the algorithms of search engines. Without traffic, searches will rarely direct people to my blogs. I have had hits before, but it seems that I would need someone to search for a set of words that are not commonly used together that I just happened to use in a post.

I will discuss how Flickr and Google+ relate to my blog traffic in their own sections below.

I have used different templates for each blog, but I have included a common layout. I haven’t revised the layout since starting, but I probably should because the layout was developed before I really knew how my blogs were going to work. I think that it’s time to make a few changes.

I think that it’s best to keep the links between my blogs and a description of who I am. I feel that the blog archives provide too much clutter that I really don’t need. Labels are also a little too cluttered, but I will probably revise them as I will explain with the individual blogs below. With how old my blogs are without any followers, some people might think that there’s something seriously wrong with my blog. It’s probably best that get rid of that as well. This might be replaced with a Google+ gadget (or two).
