I am not a mere product of the schools

I hate to admit it, but I possess a high school diploma. In many ways, that piece of paper feels like a curse. It completely misrepresents who I am. I am not just another mindless product of the schools. I am an individual.

Unfortunately, we live in a highly discriminatory society. If you are not a product of the schools, doors will be slammed shut. As long as I have my mindless drone certification, it's best not to lie about it.

As I have stated before, people are stupid. I don't think there's any question that shoving everyone through a process that destroys thought is at least a part of the problem. By contrast, I barely graduated due to the limits of the mental sacrifices I was willing to make. Unlike the vast majority of Americans, I actually like to think.

The issue here isn't just that people don't tend to think. It's that people are surrounded by others who don't think. In this regard, I am definitively different from the mainstream. Instead of mindlessly conforming to the thoughts provided to me, I have numerous one-of-a-kind perspectives. People are not used to dealing with original thoughts.

There are different possibilities when someone who lacks exposure to thought has to deal with someone like me. Perhaps the most common is to extract similarities to existing thoughts and inappropriately assume my thoughts are closer to others than they really are. I have already discussed how people tend to confuse issues.

I know that I'm not always the best at explaining my thoughts, but that's no excuse for the assumptions people make. If you want to better understand what I think, you shouldn't rely on the thoughts of people who are very different from me. The best person to explain my views is me, even if I'm not the best person in the world with those things made out of letters.
