You'll die at 10 if you don't tune in at 11

As I have said, the media loves to exploit fear to trick viewers into helping their precious ratings. It's not just the over-the-top reports that they repeat over and over again such as Y2K.

A lot of news promos are just horrible. They make it sound like some household object can be deadly. Then they say they won't tell you unless you tune in to the evening news. According to the media, there's something you need to know to protect your life. They will withhold that information unless you help their ratings.

They take things way too far. If it's really that important (it never is), don't withhold it. Don't let us die just because we don't want to reward that unethical behavior.

This is why I make fun of the media with the same words that I used in the title. It seems to me like the media would withhold information of something that could kill you before the evening news if doing so would help their bottom line. They would have no problems telling us that there is something in our houses that will kill us at 10 if we don't tune in at 11.
