Culture of Fear

America has become a paranoid country. This is for a reason. People who are fearful are easier to manipulate and exploit.

Terrorism has been a good example of this. We have lost a lot of rights over the years due to the war on terror. If we don't allow the government to overstep their bounds, we will be at risk of a bigger terror attack. In other words, we have to give up our rights or die.

Terrorism has undeniably been overplayed. The threats are real (to an extent) but highly exaggerated. The nature of terrorism involves unexpected attacks. If you show a concern with one form of attack, they will pursue a different approach. Ultimately, our precautions do not provide much in terms of legitimate protections.

The media and government both promote fear. I could go on about what we have heard from the media. In fact, I have started a series to vent about some of the biggest issues I have with the media. To simplify things, I beg you not to fall for the argument that you will die if you don't tune in at eleven.

The schools also exploit fear. As I have said repeatedly, the schools rely heavily on emotional abuse. They try to scare their students into conformity. If they don't sell their souls, their entire futures will be destroyed.

Fear is a big part of the typical American's life. It has become a part of our culture. Personally, I think there are better ways to live life than to be afraid. Hopefully, we will eventually learn our lesson. Maybe we can reach a point when we are rational rather than paranoid.
