2014 Road Trip - Klamath to Diamond Lake

We made several stop today. I don’t think any were worthy of eBird. These stops were primarily near Prospect and Crater Lake. Prospect is a town known for waterfalls, and Crater Lake is… do I really have to finish that sentence? Expect me to upload some landscape pictures from today.

Our first stop was actually before we reached prospect. It was an old lava tube that is now used by the Rogue River. Even though some water was flowing on top, it is known as Natural Bridge.

We made two stops by Prospect. The first took us to Mill Creek Falls and Barr Creek Falls. The other stop took us to Prospect Falls and Pearsoney Falls.

Our first stop at Crater Lake was Castle Crest. That was a wildflower loop. I’m guessing that we might have been a little earlier in the year than ideal for this one. We also stopped at Sun Notch, Vidae Falls, and a bunch of pullouts. Although we decided that Crater Lake would be on our return trip in hopes they could clear more of the Rim Drive, our drive could not complete the circuit. They still had a lot closed.

We have now made camp at Thielsen View along Diamond Lake. We already finished our campground walk, which had to be cut short due to an abundance of mosquitoes.

Today’s sightings include Chipmunks, Douglas Squirrels, Robins, Golden-mantled Ground Squirrels, Nutcrackers, Gray Jays, Swallows, and a Yellow-rumped Warbler.
