Today was another one of those days when I let my notes run together. Among our sightings were Ravens, Goats, Chipmunks, Squirrels, a Deer, and a Thrush.
Our first stop of the day… actually it wasn’t a stop. It was a quick walk around the campground. We focused on the scenery due to the sunlight hitting the mountains.
Our first legitimate stop took us to the Grinnell Glacier Trail. My sister has a rule about crossing snow. When we reached some of the white stuff, we turned around.
We visited Red Rock Falls next. While the trail continued past this point, we did not. We had other things to see.
We visited another waterfall trail. Why? Because it was there. We knew nothing about this trail, and I was reminded of my sister’s no-snow rule. After failing to finish the trail, we returned to the car.
We had to do as much of the Going-to-the-Sun Road as we could. Yesterday was the Western side up until the closure at Avalanche. Today was the eastern side up until the closure at Jackson’s Glacier overlook. We took a look at the glacier, but decided against that particular hike.
We had a few plans for this road. It appears that closures forced the crowds to gather at open areas. Very few places had parking. One place that we wanted to go, Sun Point, was available to us. We followed the trail to Baring Falls. While we had considered continuing to St. Mary’s Fall, the weather suddenly turned nice. To protect our cameras from the nice weather, we turned around.
It is till raining, and raining harder than during our hikes. Our cameras have begged us to find shelter for them. We have obliged and called it a day. We headed back to our campsite and parked… after the goat got out of our way.
