A new page, Anti-Discrimination/Education Reclamation, has been added to my Educational Rights notebook for My Idea Outlet. The contents can be found below.
The meaning of education has diverged substantially. Many people confuse these meanings. It might sound good that we should support education because education is a need, but this is actually flawed logic. If you look to the meaning instead of the wording, this is effectively telling people to support a mentally destructive schooling system because we need mental development.
I want to end the confusion. We already have a good term for schooling. It's called schooling. When I talk about education, I'm talking about mental development.
There are a lot of consequences to our contradictory use of the term. For example, so-called educated individuals tend to look down on so-called uneducated individuals purely on the basis of education levels. There are a lot of highly capable individuals who simply don't fit our schooling model. Similarly, a lot of people who succeed in this setup are actually quite limited in ability.
What I mean by education reclamation is bringing an end to the confusion. Education should only be used to refer to mental development. We need to call out individuals who use the term to refer to schooling. By doing this, well educated individuals with limited schooling will be less likely to be discriminated against as though they are uneducated.
