Oddities of climate science believers

Climate change has sparked some intense dialog. It has become one of the biggest issues for the Democratic party. The Republicans have, for the most part, gone in the opposite direction. If the Democrats are arguing about how disastrous climate change can be, the Republicans typically believe that it should be treated as irrelevant. Many Republicans even outright deny that humans are capable of having any impact on the environment.

The bulk of the scientific community is in agreement. Mankind has been increasing global temperatures. These increases have resulted in climate shifts that will continue to become more extreme. Since the Democrats have the scientific community on their side, they are quick to ridicule the Republicans for denying the science.

The Democrats are not just criticizing Republicans for denying climate science. They insist that Republicans don't care about any science. Technically speaking, they may be on to something. The more I read from Democrats, however, makes it appear that they are just as guilty.

Have you heard the dialogue surrounding genetically modified organisms (GMOs)? Most Democrats insist that GMOs are unhealthy because they are unnatural. Most scientists have failed to find any reason for concern. They have also found benefits, such as diminishing hunger in the world. The party that claims to believe in science refuses to listen to the scientific community on this issue.

When the Green New Deal (which has more to do with socialism than environmentalism) was announced, some Democrats insisted that it didn't go far enough. I read multiple comments that forcing a vegan diet on everyone should be part of fighting climate change. What about all of the evolutionary evidence that humans are omnivorous? The Democrats don't care. The facts contradict what they want to believe.

I have a history of putting the points that I am trying to make right in the titles of my posts. I must admit that I took a different approach this time and used an intentionally deceiving title. While most people think of Democrats as the Americans who believe in climate science, that actually don't care about the science. They care about the party. They simply cite the science because it fits with what they want to believe.

Although I have been focusing primarily on the Democrats, both parties are guilty. Republicans don't deny climate science because they have contradictory evidence. They deny it because the Democrats insist that it's real. Climate change has become less of a scientific discussion and more of a political discussion thanks to our hyper-partisan environment.

In many ways, this can be tracked back to Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth. Gore ensured that global warming was more political than scientific. This could be viewed as the smartest thing he ever did. From that point on, Republicans felt obligated to reject global warming. They rejected the science, which is how the Republicans developed their anti-science reputation. Again, neither party actually cares about the science. Their parties are more important to them.
