Do democrats really want informed voters?

One of the arguments that Democrats have thrown out there to explain how Donald Trump won the 2016 presidential election is that voters were uninformed. I'm not going to dispute that point. Partially thanks to the media, Republicans were uninformed. Of course, so were the Democrats.

By insisting that uninformed voters cost them the election, Democrats have portrayed themselves as a party that wants voters to be informed. In reality, they want voters to be informed of the positives of their own politicians, and even more informed regarding the negatives of Republicans. They do not want voters informed about the drawbacks of the Democratic party or the advantages provided by Republican candidates.

This can easily be seen when you look at the antics of liberals in the media. They seek out and exaggerate everything wrong coming from the Republicans. Meanwhile, they downplay the numerous controversies coming from Democrats. In many cases, they have been caught in outright lies. Schooling is similar. Liberal teachers don't hesitate to put a political agenda above properly informing their students about anything.

If the Democrats truly wanted voters to be informed, they would have to be more open about their own mistakes. They would have to acknowledge that there is some good coming from the Republican party. They would have to put the value of neutral facts over their partisan agenda. While Republicans are certainly similar in this regard, they have not pushed the arguments relating to uninformed voters nearly as hard. While it would be nice to hear the Republicans indicate that they would like voters to be properly informed, their inaction shows that they are not the ones who are coming off as hypocritical.
