The fight for Fox

If you know me, you know that I hate Disney. This is a company that makes feature length advertisements and convinces people to pay to see them. Entertainment always takes a back seat to marketing and merchandising.

When Disney made an offer to purchase Fox, I just about lost it. Fox may not be a very good studio, but they certainly exceed what we see from Disney. An argument can also be made that they are in a slump in regards to quality of movies being released, but the entire industry is in a slump. The simple reality here is that if I had to choose between watching two movies and only knew that one was from Fox and the other was from Disney, there is no question that Fox would come out on top.

I am seriously concerned about what Disney would do to a superior studio. If there is any hope for Fox to start making quality programming, Disney could crush that hope. They would turn Fox programming into more of Disney's war on entertainment.

Since Disney's intentions went public, Comcast stepped into the discussion, providing their own bid for Fox. Comcast is another company that I hate. Along with the NHL's misguided rule changes, their extreme bias has made hockey nearly unwatchable. Their cable business is hated so much that they had to rebrand, essentially taking their company name from the service. I could go on, but then I would be spending way too much time repeating what you can find elsewhere on the Internet.

Admittedly, Comcast has occasionally stooped to Disney's level. Did anyone else see that awful Jurassic World night of American Ninja Warrior? Fortunately, they're not quite as aggressive in these types of shameless promotions as Disney.

I never thought that I would say this. I really wanted Comcast to buy Fox. I didn't have much hope for Fox under such a deal, but Disney would be a catastrophe. If Comcast was our only hope to save Fox from that fate, I would accept it. Yes, Disney really is that bad.
