The mismanaged pandemic

The COVID-19 pandemic was mishandled at every level. The experts had to change guidance multiple times because they were getting a lot wrong. People in a position of power exploited the pandemic to further increase their power while completely overlooking obvious implications on mental health. The media was so obsessed with politicizing, fear mongering, and even cheerleading that it was nearly impossible to find factual information.

Even average citizens screwed up by embracing partisanship more than a desire to understand the situation. Republicans frequently rejected masks and vaccines solely on the basis that Democrats supported them. Democrats promoted oppression and openly wished Republicans dead.

The COVID-19 pandemic should go down as one of the most mishandled pandemics in history. Of course, should does not mean will. History is not about facts. It's about pushing agendas. Historians will likely portray the pandemic in whatever manner is best for their political agendas.

I am especially concerned right now with the possibility that historians will exploit this pandemic to promote subservience to the Democrats' authoritarianism. Keep in mind that many historians maintain a liberal bias. Also keep in mind that numerous Democrats actually complained that our approach to the pandemic wasn't authoritarian enough. It's very possible that this mishandled pandemic could be portrayed as well handled by the authorities but hindered by those who refused to completely abandon freedom.

Again, this pandemic was horribly mishandled. This is true regardless of how historians try to spin it. I seriously hope that future generations aren't subjected to something similar as a result of deceitful historians.
