I personally view normal as a bad word. We should all embrace what makes each and every one of us unique. If we overemphasize what makes us the same, we diminish the value of diverse perspectives and personal strengths. We shouldn't strive to be normal. We should strive to have something unique to offer society.
Living in an intolerant society, people are pushed to fit the mold of normalcy. They sacrifice individuality to please others. We end up living in a society where everyone is the same. This sameness defines what we consider to be normal. Being normal means conforming to the narrow and rigid mold of normalcy.
If you are normal, you lack an identity of your own. You are nothing more than who society told you to be. For the sake of attainability, normalcy is an incredibly low target. Personally, I want to be more than normal. I also want you to be more than normal. Let's face reality. Weirdos have far more to contribute to society than normies.
To put this another way, I'm proudly weird. If you insist that I'm normal, I will take that as an insult. I'm better than that. It's a shame that more people can't say the same.
