It's easier to be a liberal in America

In recent years, a number of conservatives have lost their jobs for not embracing liberal ideology. Beyond jobs, conservatives frequently encounter all sorts of hostilities from liberals due to their different perspectives. Liberals treat liberals well. Liberals treat conservatives like crap.

I don't hear as many stories like this in the opposite direction. Conservatives are nowhere near as discriminatory as liberals. Conservatives are not firing liberals for having different viewpoints. Although many conservatives ridicule liberals for their views, they are nowhere near as hostile. Conservatives treat conservatives well. While conservatives may not get along as well with liberals, they still treat them decently.

Considering the importance of money in modern day society, employment is especially concerning. Liberals will be employed by both liberals and conservatives. It is increasingly difficult for conservatives to find a job with a liberal employer. Conservatives can only reliably find employment from other conservatives. This is a massive advantage for liberals.

Keep in mind that I reject partisan conformity. I deviate from the views of both parties. While I have disagreements with conservatives, they are usually easier for me to deal with. They are nowhere near as intolerant of alternative viewpoints. Heck, Democrats are turning against their own if they are not 100% in line with partisan ideology.

Liberal intolerance and conservative tolerance make it a lot easier for liberals in this country. Just about everyone will accept them. Conservatives and non-conformists have to deal with complete intolerance from about half the American population. This is absolutely not how things should be.

Technically speaking, conservatives would be much better off if they embraced the same kind of intolerance as liberals. Obviously, this is not what I want. This would be absolutely devastating to non-conformists. This would also be disastrous for such things as innovation. You can't push society forward if you become too dependent on others to tell you what to think.

The best solution to liberal intolerance is not conservative intolerance. I do not want to live in a society defined by partisan intolerance. Quite frankly, I am struggling to live in a society in which intolerance has become foundational to one of the major parties.

So, what do we need to do? We need to convince liberals that differing viewpoints is not a sin. We need to embrace mental diversity. We need to respect the rights of individuals to have minds of their own.
