Pandemic clichés

The new normal is social distancing to flatten the curve. Ugh. The media bombarded us with those terms throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Couldn't they have at least changed things up periodically?

In all fairness, flattening the curve went away fairly quickly. Apparently, the media found it too difficult to convince people to keep up with the new normal well after the two weeks to flatten the curve had ended. Of course, the new normal never made sense for changes in behavior that were only supposed to be a part of everyday life during the pandemic.

Perhaps turning phrases into pandemic clichés makes some sense in the hashtag/meme era. People these days seem to thrive on everybody using the exact same words. This might be part of the reason that I personally hate being lumped together with people. The media's approach might have worked for those who like others to dictate the words they use, but it drove me nuts.

I hope that I never again have to hear the pandemic clichés. I am sick of hearing the same words repeated nearly nonstop for several years. Do me a big favor. When dealing with me, please avoid any discussion about social distancing, flattening the curve, and the new normal.
