As I recently explained, politics in America is seriously problematic. My concerns have primarily been with the Democrats, but I have issues with both political parties. As the Democrats have moved closer to totalitarianism, the Republicans have acted in panic. I wanted to address three responses I have seen from the Republicans as they have embraced the role of resistance against extremism.
Election doubts
Election fraud claims have frequently stemmed from disbelief that so many voters could embrace the extremist party. How can voters support such screwed up politicians? There are multiple reasons for this. For starters, a lot of Republicans are screwed up themselves. Also keep in mind that the Democrats control the schools and media. They are in a position to mold minds then ensure voters don't know the truth about the Democrats.
Sacrificing democracy
What's worse, embracing totalitarianism or losing democracy? There's no question that Republicans have engaged in anti-democratic antics. A big part of the reason for this is because their fear of totalitarianism exceeds their belief in democracy. Some of these measures are becoming more extreme, and the Republicans are unfortunately acting more like the Democrats.
Exploitation of fear
This same fear that is fueling the anti-democratic behavior opens up the opportunity for manipulation. Republicans are looking for information that helps them make sense of what's going on. The information that can help them understand what's going on doesn't have to be true. A lot of dishonest sources are trying to manipulate the views of Republicans. Although misinformation is a serious problem on both sides of the political spectrum, Republican misinformation is currently becoming more influential.
