Right to personal protest

If something is wrong in this world, we should have no right to mandate that everybody just sits there and accepts it. We should be allowed to protest issues such as oppression and injustices. When I say that we should have a right to personal protest, I am saying that we should not have others preventing us from standing up for what we believe in.

Technically speaking, the right to personal protest should protect even those who maintain misguided reasoning. If anyone tries to establish what is and is not justified protesting, that power could be abused. The possibility of misguided protests would not be nearly as bad as the loss of this right.

Usually, when people think of protesting, they think of organized protest. While there is certainly value in that concept, I would say that it falls short of being a fundamental human right. I will explain why in a later post.
