We added another stop. This one was at the East Gallatin Recreation Area. This is a park that is probably best for regular visitors. There are a lot of short trails cutting through the property. Regulars will know these trails and how to approach the best habitat. I kept a checklist, but I'm fairly confident that my counts will be lower than most people who visit.
Finding a place to spend the night became a bit of a problem. There weren’t many suitable campgrounds in this area. Our main target was Pine Creek. On a board at the entrance, they asked campers to tear off tags when they picked a campground. There were no tags. We checked out a couple campgrounds that catered primarily to RV's. Traffic jams at their entries convinced us to turn to plan C. We didn't really have a plan C this time, so we decided to spend the night at a hotel in Livingston. I guess we might as well try to enjoy our most expensive night.
