Peer Pressure

I don't care much for all the kids who have become addicted to Facebook. When people question the use of Facebook, these kids frequently defend themselves by saying that all of their friends are on Facebook, and they don't want to be left out. All the other kids are doing it. What a great defense.

I'm kind of curious about how Facebook usage relates to drug abuse. The bulk of Facebook users have proven that they are susceptible to peer pressure. It seems probable to me that drug abuse would be higher among Facebook users than people who don't mind being on the outside.

The pathetic thing about all of this is that most of us accept peer pressure as valid reasoning behind decisions. Facebook is not the same as drug abuse, but the message sent is ridiculous. We should not tell children that there is nothing wrong with them doing whatever the other kids are doing.
