Cascadia

Have you ever taken a look at a map of North America? Can you honestly say that the borders make sense?
Washington is mistreated by the American media and government due to its lack of obvious benefit to the New York media. British Columbia is mistreated by the Canadian media (and probably government) due to its lack of obvious benefit to the Toronto media. We both struggle with desirability attracting undesirable people. We both have a lot of natural beauty and a refreshing climate. By comparison, an overwhelming majority of the United States is absolutely unbearable (unless you are one of those undesirable migrants, in which case Washington is 150% unlivable. Stay out!!!)

I feel that we have more in common with Vancouver, BC than we do with America. The idea that we have to go through an increasingly painful border crossing in order to fully enjoy our region is ridiculous. International borders between us make no logical sense. No international borders anywhere between us and Los Angeles and New York is similarly illogical.

In recent years, our region has actually been solidified. We have the Amtrak Cascades. We have worked together to promote two-nation vacations. To help with the expected neglect from our nations should we have to face an emergency, we have an agreement in place to help each other out. There were even a number of people who wanted to provide a joint bid (Vancouver, BC & Seattle) for the 2028 Summer Olympics.

Years ago, I stated that Washington, Oregon, and British Columbia need to secede and form a new country. I even came up with a good name for it, Cascadia.

Since I first proposed the idea of Cascadia, I have found some interesting information on the Internet. Apparently, a number of people believe that Washington, Oregon, and British Columbia should secede and form a new country. They even had a name for it, Cascadia. Who would have thought? Different people following different paths and coming up with ideas that are so similar down to the name. Perhaps there’s a reason for this. Perhaps logic is providing the same answers for those who do not maintain a blind obedience to their nations.
