Vacation 2011–Day 14

Before leaving Lake Moyie, we saw Robins, Gulls, Squirrels, and Ravens, Today was spent primarily working our way back home. To keep things from becoming dull, we stopped in a few wildlife areas. Due to time concerns, we limited our enjoyment of each of these areas.

Our first stop was the Creston Valley Wildlife Management Area. They had some nice trails that gave us glimpses of Barn Swallows, Hummingbirds, Robins, Waxwings, Red-winged Blackbirds, Yellow-headed Blackbirds, Tree Swallows, and a Heron. Near a bird tower, we encountered a couple Moose. One appeared to be young and disappeared as we heard a splash in a nearby stream.

Our second stop was Kootenai National Wildlife Refuge. Among sightings at that quick stop were Red-winged Blackbirds, Flickers, Deer, Coots, Mallards, and Geese.

Our final stop for the day was our campsite at Little Pend Oreille National Wildlife Refuge. With out brief time so far, I am going to wait for tomorrow to report sightings.

Edit: Creston Valley sightings also included a Red-tailed Hawk, Mallards, Pigeons, Vultures, and Cowbirds. Kootenai sightings also included a Moose, Ring-necked Ducks, and Song Sparrows.
