Our destination is Yellowstone. The drive is long, and we decided that we couldn’t justify stopping wherever we wanted. We reached Montana with little time spent outside of the car. Yes, we had lunch at a rest stop. While we did eat sandwiches, I can assure you that they did not come from a vending machine in the bathroom. We don’t expect worms to take over Colon.
There was never a reasonable chance to reach Yellowstone today, so we found a campground south of Missoula called Charles Waters. Although this stop had absolutely nothing to do with hiking, we did manage to take a short trip around a nearby nature trail. Even though we didn’t look hard for wildlife, we managed to see robins, butterflies, and chipmunks.
