Inconsistencies in Weather Preference

Last year, many people praised our warm winter and complained about our cool summer. Since our summer was warmer than our winter, how can that be? There are actually a number of factors involved.

Some people might argue that acclimatization can play a role. That is technically true. Perhaps having a record-tying six days in the 90s made the mild temperatures feel cool in comparison, but I really think that there’s more to this than acclimatization. After all, the winter leading up to it should not have made warmer temperatures feel cool in comparison.

Like I have said numerous times over the years, we are living in the most mindless era in history. Most people feel what they think they’re supposed to feel. If winter is supposed to be cool and but it’s mild instead, we feel warmer because our minds are playing tricks on us. People who actually love warm weather love these kinds of winters.

Summer provides a similar problem. Most people like warm weather. If it’s cooler than usual, we trick ourselves into thinking that it’s cold outside. Last year was mostly a mild summer. Like I said earlier, our warm winter was cooler than our cool summer.

Simply put, we have been inadvertently playing mind tricks on ourselves. We are influenced more by what we think we are supposed to feel than pretty much anything else. We would rather base our opinions off of what’s on paper than what we are personally experiencing. We refuse to listen to ourselves.
