My Idea Outlet: Social Networking+>Web 3.0>Hubs

A new page, Web 3.0>Hubs, has been added to my Social Networking+ notebook for My Idea Outlet. The contents can be found below.

You could argue that a news feed, much like one I proposed, could be considered a hub focused on news content. Other types of hubs are certainly possible. Most hubs would be specialized. They can focus on politics, sports, weather, and so much more. With the modular content and cross-service communications associated with inclusive social networking, they could be more advanced than anything currently seen on the internet.

I will use sports as an example. You could have a page following a game being played by your favorite team. You can have a scoreboard display that shows an up-to-the-second display of the score, quarter/period/inning, time remaining, and other key stats. You could have an official play-by-play feed. You could have a section for more detailed game stats, including player performances. There could also be a league scoreboard and a social feed/chat.

On top of all these features, quick links could be provided. For example, you could hover over a player's name to find out how many goals a player has. Clicking on an incident could add information to another section. For example, clicking on an injury could open a quick search for a status update. Clicking on a game in the league scoreboard could give you expanded information on that game.

Of course, the heart of this is the ability to utilize various sources throughout the internet. Personal settings could be used to display important news items in the middle of the play-by-play. The social feed could include comments from personal friends, experts, and sometimes the players themselves. Algorithms could be developed to help you find the posts that you are most likely to read. Additionally, you can include a team-specific news feed that functions a lot like a focused version of the previously mentioned news feed.
