Short Stories - Time Traveller II

Sometimes, it's best to leave your comfort zone. I have decided to push myself for some creativity. I'm not a writer (as if you couldn't tell), but I have decided to push that aside to write some corny stories. The text below is from one of these stories.

In many ways, it was the details that made Futuropolis a great city. That bed was so comfortable that Enlightia didn't want to get up. It was eight o'clock when the ringing of the phone finally got her out of bed.

Enlightia had no idea where the phone was. She tried to follow the ring, but it seemed to be coming from everywhere. Frustrated, she mumbled, "Where are you?"

A voice started talking. "I'm at the Floating Palace, but wouldn't you prefer to know why I'm calling?"

Enlightia figured it out. The phone had been programmed into the room. By starting to talk, she was effectively answering the phone. She responded, "Sure. What do you want to tell me?"

The voice continued. "I have been talking to the staff at the Floating Palace. The palace hosts a museum that is available only through personal tours. They have decided to provide you with one of these tours. If you can find time around two, we will take you up to meet one of their guides."

Enlightia responded, "That sounds great. I'll be ready."

"We will upload your destination and security credentials to your pod. Any time between one and three, just tell the pod that you're ready for your tour. We'll meet you there."

Enlightia signed off. "Thank you so much. I'm looking forward to it. Now how do I hang up?"

There was no response. Apparently, the phone recognized the end of the discussion and ended the call at the appropriate time.

It wasn't time yet. Enlightia knew there was a museum in a nearby building down the hall. She thought that knowing more about the city would help her understand what she would see in the Floating Palace. She jumped in her pod and asked to visit the Futuropolis Historical Museum. In almost no time, she was there.
