A new page, Tablet/Mobile Device>Description, has been added to my Presentation Software notebook for My Idea Outlet. The contents can be found below.
When giving a presentation, I expect the use of two devices used together to properly move the presentation along. One is a PC host. This would be where the presentation resides, the primary tool for calculating what to do next, and the source for various forms of output. The other device would be some form of mobile device such as a smart phone or tablet.
The purpose of the mobile device would be to provide notes for the presenter and to allow the presenter to send data to the host. Notes could include a speech or directions. Input would primarily be used for segment selections, such as choosing a segment or using an interrupt. Other data can be fed to the host for such things as posting text on a screen or adding data to include in a later segment.
More complicated presentations could involve additional individuals. These additional individuals could use computers or mobile devices. In most cases, mobile devices would likely be preferred since this would allow closer involvement without the need of a bulky device. This could provide another source of input from the host or communications between the presenter and assistants. Assistants could then use the information to update the presentation.
I intend to go more in depth regarding how mobile devices could be used during a presentation. Expect to see more pages added to this section in the future.
