Why it would be stupid for Democrats to impeach Trump

The Democrats are undeniably the more strategic of our two major political parties. Although there has been a push from hardline Democrats to impeach Donald Trump from the very start of his presidency, now would be a horrible time to follow through.

The Democrats are already heavily invested in hate as part of their 2020 campaign strategy. That hate has been aimed directly at Trump. Everything they have done so far has been to maximize their odds of winning against Trump. If they jeopardize Trump's position, they will effectively be throwing away the work they have done.

Perhaps I'm not being entirely fair. The Democrats may be able to shift the hate to another candidate. Republicans in general have shifted their views to better match Trump's. Blind partisan loyalty has become far too common with both parties, and these kinds of shifting views are legitimately concerning throughout politics.

Even if they can shift the hate, no alternative Republican candidate would be the same as Trump. Even within the Republicans, Trump has struggled. He only won the nomination last time thanks to a crowded field. If Trump is removed from office or even just troubled enough to fall short of the Republicans' nomination, a stronger Republican candidate is likely to emerge. Is that really what the Democrats want in 2020?

To further complicate things, the Democratic campaigns have embraced the Green New Deal, which is essentially a liberal extremist agenda hidden behind environmentalism. I will likely further explain my views on this proposal in the future. For now, let's just say that the hate and fear associated with Trump provides the best opportunity for the Democrats to ram through such legislation. Moderates would not support this proposal over any decent Republican candidate. Donald Trump could very well be providing the best opportunity for Democrats to pass the Green New Deal.
