Belief #2 is perhaps the most awkwardly worded item on my list. I also keep mentioning a different belief of mine that has fallen off of my list. Even though there is a slight redundancy with belief #7, I wanted to restore some of my most widely used words when discussing my personal beliefs.
2. Getting to know an individual requires us to actually get to know that individual beyond shortcuts such as labels and occupations. Is now 2. We should all strive to evolve as individuals.
This change takes away from my belief that we need to stop judging people by their careers. This can be addressed by modifying belief #3.
3. It is better to be a good person than appear to be a good person. Is now
3. It is better to be a good person than appear to be a good person or have a good career.
Because of the redundancy the change in Belief #2 creates with Belief #7, I have updated belief #7. The part about bettering yourself was primarily to make space for a new item, allowing me to remove the belief that I am restoring.
7. Success should be determined primarily by how well you better yourself and the world around you.Is now
7. Success should be determined primarily by how well you better the world around you.
Here is the updated list:
- To maximize our collective capabilities, we must embrace the unique strengths and viewpoints of mentally diverse individuals.
- We should all strive to evolve as individuals.
- It is better to be a good person than appear to be a good person or have a good career.
- Bias is a part of human nature that can be addressed to an extent but never eliminated.
- There is always a way that you can be wrong.
- Ideally, you should be the biggest expert on who you are and what you need.
- Success should be determined primarily by how well you better the world around you.
- Anything subjective in nature cannot be measured in a truly accurate and objective manner.
- Those who want to learn should be allowed to do so with as little restriction as possible.
- The future is more valuable than the present, and the present is more valuable than the past.
Since this list is part of My Idea Outlet, I have updated that document. The latest version can be found at the link below:
