Privatization

You can't support so and so. It's an attempt to privatize so and so.

Privatization is not an inherently bad word. It simply means moving something from the public sector (government) to the private sector. In order to establish privatization is bad, you need to establish that what's being privatized is better handled by the government. Simply put, you would have to be a socialist to believe that something is bad simply because it's privatization.

Take a look at education. An uneducated society is not a threat to the government's power. This means that the government has an incentive to hinder education. This is a highly visible problem with government-controlled schooling. As long as you are willing to look, you can see it.

By contrast, the private sector would have to compete with each other while satisfying families in order to succeed. The private sector is accountable to families. The public sector is accountable to anti-educational bureaucrats. When it comes to education, I'm all for privatization. The private sector can't do worse than the government.

I have also seen fearmongering about the privatization of social security. The simple reality is that investments tend to outperform social security. Yes, the stock market is more volatile, but retirement savings should not be a short-term investment. In long-term investments, the gains will be more impactful than the volatility. Simply put, privatizing social security would benefit an overwhelming majority of Americans.

In all fairness, I might be a little biased. I view big government as a controlling government. I prefer to cut down the size of government. One way to diminish the power the government has over our lives is through privatization.
