There is a serious political divide when it comes to people's views of Anthony Fauci. Democrats idolize him while Republicans can't stand him. How about me? I'm actually kind of between. He made a lot of mistakes, but that doesn't make him a villain.
Most of my issues with Fauci are not Fauci's fault. The media portrayed him as the entire face of science during the COVID-19 pandemic. Science is not one person.
Democrats started treating Fauci like a cult leader. There were signs and shirts saying, "In Fauci we trust." This is obviously a take on, "In God we trust." They were openly comparing Fauci to God. Although I am not religious, I find that to be a disturbing portrayal of Fauci.
The way Democrats worshipped Fauci doesn't automatically make Fauci a bad guy. Then I read a quote from Fauci. He said, "I represent science." Again, one person is not science. This was an incredible arrogant statement to make. I disagree with how much Republicans have tried to villainize him, but Fauci's own statement moved me closer to his critics. My opinion may be between the Democrats and Republicans, but I am not dead center. Fauci is definitely not a good person.
