Why it's not easy to vote

Periodically, I need to just vent. I have decided to put together several posts for that very reason. I'm not just pushing myself to open up, but I'm actually willing to go beyond what I really think on a number of issues. This is one of these posts. Expect this to turn out as an incomprehensible irrational rant.

We are expected to vote, but I have to admit that it's not easy for me. Our political system is based on a two-party system with a lot of overlap between the two parties. It seems like both parties give us the absolute worst candidate that they think has a chance and fuels hatred of the other side to try to come out on top. When was the last time a politician from either side campaigned on their own merits?

Although the two parties try to push the opposite of each other for specific issues, they engage in very similar tactics. They look for any opportunity to skew things in their favor. In recent years, both parties have tried to overturn undesirable election results. The parties are even colluding to keep alternatives from emerging.

I'm among those who view elections as coming down to the lesser of two evils. That means that when I vote, I am knowingly and willingly voting for evil. That does not make it easy to vote.

Unfortunately, this country has been gradually transforming into a conform-or-die nation. The Democrats have me fearing for my life. Although I have big issues with the Republicans, they usually get my vote. This is further amplified when you look at the endorsements coming from the NEA and its affiliates. I do not want to give power to anyone who accepts an endorsement from an organization that actively promotes mental genocide.

I get a lot more information from Democrats than Republicans. If you know me, that further shifts my views towards the Republicans. There's so much dishonesty, I don't normally trust anything unless it goes against the bias of the source. People don't usually lie to make their side look bad.

Republicans are horrible. Thanks to the Democrat pretending to be a Republican, Donald Trump, they are embracing more Democrat-style authoritarianism. There is no way that I can vote for someone like Trump.

By comparison, Joe Biden has also embraced authoritarian tendencies such as pandemic mandates, and he has proven hostile to important concepts such as educational rights. Biden could very well be the most anti-educational president in American history. There is absolutely no way that I can support someone like that.

I would rather throw my vote away than to be responsible for giving power to either one of those two imbeciles. Fortunately, we usually have third parties on the ballot. Despite collusion from the two major parties, I am open to voting against both evils.
