I can't handle being cooped up indoors. When the Covid-19 pandemic hit, I had to continue walking. There were some inconsistencies in how we should handle the outdoors during the pandemic, especially early on. My mental health was more important to me than a slight risk of an overblown disease.
Although I continued walking, I did take some precautions. This was especially obvious when I searched for owls. I delayed any public mention related to my search. This included holding off on uploading owl pictures. I also initially omitted any owl sightings from bird checklists.
In the first year of the two weeks to flatten the curve, I managed to locate the nest. I never heard anyone else mention that nest. As far as I'm aware, I might have been the only one to locate that nest. Unfortunately, I had no luck for the following two years.
In all honesty, my precautions were not primarily aimed at slowing the spread of covid-19. I was more concerned about losing my trail. A number of parks were closed due to the pandemic. If the trail became too popular, the county could have closed the trail. I absolutely did not want that.
When things moved closer to normal, I stopped worrying so much. I updated my Flickr photostream. Owl sightings were added to my eBird checklists. My walks became more like they were in the before time.
