Voter suppression

In recent years, voter suppression has become a big issue. Conservatives try to pass laws to require ID's for voting. Liberals successfully fight these laws, insisting that they suppress votes from the poor and minorities.

Before I go any further, I have not yet seen any evidence that Republicans are taking wealth or race into consideration when passing these laws. They keep insisting that they are trying to prevent fraud.

Is election fraud a serious problem? In all honesty, I see no way of knowing with any degree of certainty. Liberals are quick to point out how there isn't much fraud being discovered under current guidelines, but that doesn't even come close to proving that requiring ID's would not catch fraud that we do not currently see.

I have a much bigger concern with how Democrats have been representing the drawbacks of these stricter voting regulations. Despite being seriously vocal, they never show any concerns that poor voters might lack proper identification.

What does it take to get a job in America? You have to be able to prove who you are. Employment requires the same kind of identification that Democrats don't seem to believe the poor need.

In politics, there are a lot of absurd statements being made. I frequently viewed the Republican claim that Democrats want the poor to remain poor as one of these absurdities. After all the talk about how we should embrace the idea that the poor don't have to have a path to employment, I have been forced to second guess myself. If they really wanted to give the poor a chance, why do they show no concerns for their lack of ID's?
