August 2015 Weather Summary

August could be viewed as a continuation of our misery. We spent most of the month hot, but it wasn't as bad as what we encountered in July. The weather changed significantly near the end of the month, but it wasn't enough to keep the month out of our list for our 10 worst Augusts. Fortunately, it was enough to keep us out of the list for 10 worst months ever recorded.

The primary problems were temperatures. We spent way too much time in the 80's. This ended up as our 9th worst month ever in terms of temperature, and our 4th worst August.

We actually got some much needed rain during the month. This helped us out with our overall scores. We were still among our bottom 10 Augusts, but this was certainly a huge improvement over July.

Although we saw improvement, it's pretty clear that the bulk of the month was still problematic. Our year-to-date ranking has dropped, and we are now having our worst year through August. September hasn't been too bad so far. While I don't think we have much of a shot at a top-10 September, we might have a chance to finally avoid a bottom-10 finish. It's still too early to say with any certainty.
