Fall 2014 Weather Summary

Happy three days after solstice. That means it's time for me to update the Washingtonian Weather Index for the fall. I believe we are still on the warm side. There's even talk of us having our hottest year on record. Our warmest December day ever brought the record in to reach. Unlike summer, however, warm falls don't score so poorly. This has to do with the nature of the index. During our cooler months, we are typically below the overall average temperatures. Warming things up generally moves us closer to average, which is the basis of the index. If we exceed average (high: 59.5, low: 44.5), it's rarely a significant difference.
