The initial walk was to the shipwreck. We followed the beach to the day use area. We returned to camp via a mosquito-infested trail. I’m sure I didn’t do a very good job identifying everything since the mosquito cloud made it difficult to steady my camera.
After reaching camp, we drove out of the campground and toward the historical area. There was a bit to see here, and we missed a few things. It still took a big chunk of our day.
We also checked out a couple wildlife viewing areas in the day use portion of the park. I might have gotten some decent Barn Swallow nest shots in the C area, but we had already seen more in D.
At 12:04, we finally found ourselves further south than we were at the beginning of the day.
We stopped at Ecola State Park next. We visited two sections of the park. We bagged our first lighthouse of the trip.
It was well after 3 on a Friday. We had to find a place to camp. The first campground after our 3:45 deadline was Barview Jetty County Park. We are essentially done for the day.
Checking my GPS receiver, it’s kind of scary how little south we budged today. My planning process will probably be simplified with fewer options. Hopefully, we will actually go somewhere tomorrow.
UPDATE 1: I have added pictures from Fort Stevens State Park, an eBird checklist from the campground and shipwreck, an eBird checklist from the historic area, and an eBird checklist from parking area D.
UPDATE 2: I have added pictures from Fort Ecola State Park, an eBird checklist from the entry area, and an eBird checklist from the area around Indian Point.
