Where to go from freedom for some

I don't deny that this country has some truly dark moments. Slavery is a despicable act. Although slavery is not strictly racial, there were definitely racial components to our implementation. Even when slavery came to an end, we continued to treat black Americans as an inferior race.

Even worse that our treatment of black Americans was our treatment of native Americans. I don't think there's any questions that our country engaged in genocide.

We can't go back in history and undo our mistakes. That doesn't mean that past treatment of these races should justify mistreatment today. Races should ideally be treated as equals. How do we improve in this regard?

We had some good ideas in the past. Our country used to value freedom for certain groups. Unfortunately, they did not value freedom for all. We only had freedom for some. Where do we go from freedom for some? Personally, I prefer to shift towards freedom for all. Unfortunately, that's not the direction we have taken.

In modern-day America, we have embraced a gradual erosion of fundamental rights and freedoms. Each generation has fewer rights than the last. Technically speaking, this is moving races closer to equality. If all races are slaves to the government, then an argument can be made that we have achieved racial equality. Is this really the type of equality that we want?

There were things we did right in the past and things we did wrong. I want to restore rights and freedoms. That does not mean that I want to bring back the racism that we saw during those days. I want all races to enjoy fundamental rights and freedoms. To me, that is a far more preferable approach to racial equality.
