My Idea Outlet: Educational Rights/Educational Rights Day/Purpose

A new page, Educational Rights Day/Purpose, has been added to my Educational Rights notebook for My Idea Outlet. The contents can be found below.

The primary purpose of an Educational Rights Day is fairly straightforward. We would provide the public with one day each year that supports and encourages independent learning. Ideally, this concept would expand over time. This could include multiple events scattered throughout the year.

Another big component of an Educational Rights Day is to attack the schooling concept. This holiday should help people understand that schooling is not necessary to the educational process. This could potentially lead to an educational rights movement.

The day should be more about the benefits of educational rights than the detriments of our schooling system. I would be willing to work with schools to increase available educational resources. Some schools would reject the idea outright due to the anti-schooling angle attached. Others might actually embrace such a day as it can remove barriers to an education. Keep in mind that the anti-educational values in school are not a result of teachers hating education. It's actually due to the tendency to take education for granted and the failure to understand the anti-educational consequences of their actions.

With the purpose behind an Educational Rights Day, an educational rights organization should probably be involved. Such an organization should already be set up for this kind of educational approach. By backing the holiday, they can gain exposure. This could then be used as a means to shift education from our counterproductive schooling system to a more open environment that embraces educational rights.
