A new page, Financial Model/Advertisements, has been added to my Business Sim notebook for My Idea Outlet. The contents can be found below.
I would prefer this concept to be free to play. It's also fairly ambitious. I can't imagine this to work without paid advertising.
There are multiple ways to include advertising. One of the more obvious would include an ad at startup. This could either be a video or something interactive. A paid version of the game (I will try to explain that in the future) could remove the ads.
Another potential ad would be in-game billboards. This should be optional. An owner (or someone with rights to make changes to a city) could place billboards in their city. These billboards could allow some degree of control over the content, or it could be assigned. A gamer could then receive in-game benefits such as in-game currency. Benefits would likely be higher if there are no ad restrictions.
There are other possibilities for advertising. Some could be somewhat more innovative. One idea would be to allow business accounts that play by different rules. There also might be options for connecting the game to outside partners. These will likely be explained in the future.
