From phony scandals to fake news

The media has gone so far overboard in their attempts to dictate everyone's opinions regarding Donald Trump that it's far too easy to overlook a simple reality. Some of their criticism is legitimate.

One thing that has gotten Trump a lot of criticism is his insistence that everything bad reported about him is "fake news." It is true that a number of reports, some from mainstream news sources, have been disproven. I will still agree with the media that he overuses the phrase.

During Trump's campaign, my biggest concern with Trump was that he acted far too much like Barack Obama. These excessive "fake news" argument has reminded me of Trump's Obama-like traits. This is a tactic that Trump copied directly from Obama's playbook. Of course, Obama's wording was a little different. He used the phrase, "phony scandals."

When it comes to wrongdoing, we have gone from phony scandals to fake news. Attacking the legitimacy of certain types of criticism is something Trump clearly has in common with Obama. I didn't like this tactic under Obama. I still don't like it under Trump. Of course, I seem to be alone on this issue. Most people are fine with this tactic being used by one but not the other.

Multiple times, I have read comments online reminiscing about how there were no scandals during Obama's presidency. Wow. Have people really forgotten about the IRS targeting scandal, fast and furious, and the orchestrated deceit surrounding Benghazi? Those were just the big scandals that the Obama and the media couldn't hide. It appears that the tactic worked for Obama. No wonder Trump thinks it can work for him.
