My Idea Outlet: Educational Rights>Anti-Discrimination>Description

A new page, Anti-Discrimination>Description, has been added to my Educational Rights notebook for My Idea Outlet. The contents can be found below.

While there are a few organizations in existence that dare to put education above schooling, there is an area in which they seem to always fall short. Just look at the stigma associated with dropouts regardless of the reason for dropping out. We are living in an openly discriminatory society, and independent learners are getting hammered.

Discrimination is especially obvious when you look at the job market. There is nothing that can be learned in school that can't be learned elsewhere. Despite this fact, many jobs require degrees. Even less desirable jobs still require an applicant to complete high school.

Educational discrimination, where people are punished for how they learned is unethical. A well-educated dropout should not be assumed to be inferior to a poorly-educated Harvard graduate with a PhD. Unfortunately, schooling currently takes precedence over education.

If I could develop an educational rights organization, I would likely include resources aimed at fighting unfair discrimination. People who pursue the education that's right for them should not be punished just because the schools do not approve.

As with most issues, identifying a problem is insufficient to correct it. I intend to look for some ideas that could help. These ideas will be added to this notebook.
