Periodically, I need to just vent. I have decided to put together several posts for that very reason. I'm not just pushing myself to open up, but I'm actually willing to go beyond what I really think on a number of issues. This is one of these posts. Expect this to turn out as an incomprehensible irrational rant.
In recent years, the Democrats have tried to seriously control and restrict numerous rights and freedoms. They have tried to control what we are allowed to say, think, know, believe, eat, and drink. They have also tightly controlled what, where, when, why, and how we are allowed to learn. Simply put, Democrats want total control over every American.
Democrats have seen success. We are continuously losing rights and freedoms that they view as threats to their power, and they can embrace complete intolerance of absolutely everyone who deviates from their narrow and rigid mold. The Democrats are even actively turning against their own if they don't fully embrace the most mindless conformist era in the history of humanity. This is what we have seen with Manchin, Sinema, and every Democrat that announced a presidential run against Joe Biden.
Modern-day Democrats have fully embraced extremism in their platform. Like the Republicans, I find the heavy-handed authoritarianism coming from the Democrats to be downright terrifying. Unlike the Republicans, I don't view extremism from the opposition as justification for extremism.
The Republicans are not just acting out of fear. They are absolutely panicking. The Democrats have gained a lot of power by controlling the schools and media. Most Americans now accept authoritarian control as vital to this country. Republicans are desperate to stop this authoritarian control. They are increasing doing whatever it takes to seize power from the Democrats, including copying authoritarian tactics that have worked for the Democrats.
Is the media the enemy of the people? An argument could be made that biased media is a threat, but media is not inherently evil. In fact, media done right is highly beneficial. Unfortunately, the American media is doing a horrific job. That doesn't mean we should be villainizing the media concept. We should instead focus on why our current media has established a serious informational crisis.
Republicans don't agree with me on this point. Instead, they try to push for the Republican equivalent. This has long been dominated by Fox News, but there have been recent attempts to create additional dishonest Republican news outlets to counter dishonest Democrat news outlets. Those of us who are more interested in news than propaganda have nowhere to turn.
Speaking of propaganda, we also need to address the schools. The NEA and AFT are pretty open that they are indoctrinating students with liberal propaganda as long as you don't use that terminology. They even boast that they are molding the minds of future voters. Although there have been attempts to allow children who are trapped in this destructive environment to escape, Republicans have increasingly been trying to control rather stop the propaganda. This is most noticeable with the attempted introduction of patriotic education.
Donald Trump has been especially problematic in fueling the Republicans' panicky fear. Trump is a Democrat pandering to what he perceives as the Republican base. In the numerous occasions in which he was wrong about Republican values, partisan conformity has led the party to some drastic shifts. This was especially obvious when it comes to political strategy. He encouraged his supporters to rely on biased conservative news sources. Even worse, he introduced the 1776 Commission in an attempt to inject conservative propaganda into the schools. Thanks to Trump's use of unethical liberal political tactics, the Republicans are more like the Democrats now than when he took office.
It's hard to think rationally when you are in a panic. This is precisely what we are seeing from the Republicans. Their fear of authoritarianism has led to an increase in acceptance of their own authoritarianism. Although it's painfully obvious that the Democrats are taking the lead in fighting fundamental rights and freedoms, the Republicans are rapidly closing the gap.
Elections have essentially turned into authoritarianism versus authoritarianism, Democrat versus Democrat. As someone who genuinely hates how authoritarian the Democrats have become, I can't handle either party. This is why I am among the minority who refuse to automatically dismiss third-party alternatives. I have no desire to help elect an authoritarian Democrat purely out of fear of electing an authoritarian Democrat.
