I have long insisted that we should all strive to evolve as individuals. For various reasons, I have not been following my own advice. This includes problems that I have with the response to change. As one of my many self-evaluations, I have decided to look into what kinds of changes I really should make in my life. Unfortunately, obstacles will likely be too much for me to overcome.
Education is more about the learning than the teaching. I don't like the idea of active teaching since this diminished the role of the learner in the process. What I do like is people acting as a resource for learners.
I'm not as well educated as I would have been if I had never set foot in a school, but there are certain areas in which I could be supportive. For example, I'm pretty good with spreadsheets. If I believe in people acting as a resource, it seems like I should set an example. If someone wants to learn in an area in which I am more advanced, I should be willing to act as a resource.
In addition to setting an example, there could be other benefits to supporting learners. Keep in mind that I strongly believe in replacing our anti-educational educational system with an educational educational system. If I started supporting learning similar to what I expect in a better system, I could learn more about how this approach would work. This could improve execution if I could ever help with a much-needed transition.
Regardless of the reason, I should be able to make contributions to the world of education. One of the simplest ways is to make myself available as an educational resource to those who want to learn. As I keep saying, those who want to learn should be allowed to do so with as little restriction as possible.
